Things to do while you're here

If you're visiting, check out these spots:

  • Saltwater Park -- Shoreline's only public shoreline is at 20th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 190th Street, and is open 8 a.m.-dusk daily. It features a comparatively level hiking trail, a bridge across the railroad tracks to the beach, and enough open space to make you believe you're miles from civilization.

  • Shoreline Historical Museum -- Located in the historic Ronald School at 749 N. 175th St. (a block west of Aurora Avenue North), the museum is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays. Displays of photos and artifacts tell the story of Shoreline's early transportation, shops and schools, and a separate exhibit area offers changing displays on various historical subjects. The current exhibit is about Edwin T. Pratt, a Shoreline resident and civil rights leader whose 1969 slaying has never been solved.

  • Shoreline Community College -- Established in 1963, the college at 16101 Greenwood Ave. N. has changing art exhibits in a gallery in the administrative building and offers a wide variety of other cultural events -- musical, dance and theatrical performances and lectures. For information on upcoming events, call 206-546-4606 or visit the college's Web site,
