Seward Park
Artists flock to little-known studio

By MARK HIGGINS Mail Author
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

Photo of potter Pat Colyar at workThe Seward Park Art Studio is another park tenant and neighborhood amenity. The ceramic arts studio is tucked inside the park's 1927 bathhouse, which was built for swimmers during a more modest era.

Inside are potter's wheels, kilns and the work of professionals as well as some just-getting-start pots and tiles.

The studio is a second home to some 18 professional or semi-professional artists, says Director Jaki Reed. Like the neighborhood, not everyone in Seattle is aware of the studio and that it offers classes for people of all abilities, Reed says.
