In the 1950s, Lake Stevens was a sleepy summer home and bedroom community with few homes. Today, people are still being lured there by its beauty, but in much larger numbers.

During the early years of the 20th century, Lake Stevens' biggest cove served as a holding pond for timber headed for the mills. This 1912 photo shows the first logging truck in Washington state, driven by Clarence George, on Vernon Road near the lake.
