Eatonville
Things to do while you're here
- Historic Eatonville Walking Tour -- Want to take a look at the town's century-old past? Pick up a walking tour map/pamphlet at the visitor center, 20 Center St. E. Then get hiking. You'll see turn-of-the-century houses, the remains of the old lumber mill, mill town residences, an old steam-driven printing press and much more. Wear comfortable shoes; the entire walk is 3.2 miles.
- Northwest Trek -- View herds of elk, mountain goats and moose from a naturalist-guided tram tour. Walk along winding pathways to view cougars, grizzly bears, lynx, wolves and bald eagles in natural settings. The park is off state Route 161, six miles north of Eatonville. Hours change seasonally but tram tours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends through July 2. Adults, $8.75. Seniors (62 and up), $8.25. Youths (5-17), $6. Tots (3-4), $4. Under 3, free.
- Pioneer Farm Museum -- It's more farm than museum. And most of the people who visit the old village at 7716 Ohop Valley Road E. (just off state Route 161, north of town) are kids on school field trips. But it's open to the public, too. And if you want to get a look at what life was really like for the pioneers, it's the place to go. Tour hours change seasonally but are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends through June 20 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from then until Labor Day. Adults, $6.50. Seniors (61 and older) and children (3-18), $5.50.
