Things to do while you're here

  • The Bitter Lake Community Center, 13035 Linden Ave. N., offers a large selection of classes, workshops, support groups and information on local events. There is a game room, and an indoor basketball court is available for free shooting. Call ahead for hours. 206-684-7524.

  • Roller skate on Friday nights at the Bitter Lake Community Center Annex,13040 Greenwood Ave. N. There is a family skate from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. and a middle school skate, for kids ages 10 to 14, from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Rentals are available.

  • Bitter Lake Park, at the south end of the lake at North 130th and Linden Avenue, has tennis courts, a playground and a wading pool. There are athletic fields for softball and soccer and an area often used by sunbathers in summer. Public swimming in the lake is not advised, and no lifeguards are posted.
